Who’s on Second?

  • Play ball!

I’m following up from yesterday’s post, “Who’s on First“.   If you missed the article and want to  catch up, click here.  The two articles go with one another.  This is another important article on how to coach teeball.

Team Management

Some players could care less where you place them on the field.  Other players may have a particular base where they think they have to play.

They’re happy just playing.  Or their parents are just happy their child is playing.  Irregardless, some patience is required working with the players as well as some creativity.

If a player wants to play a particular area, let her or him play that area.  It may take them a few games to get used to playing a different position.

Repetition

Some players may take a little longer than others to learn how to play the game.  A practice session may not be that long since a players attention span is not that advanced at this point in their age.

Some payers may take a little extra guidance to ensure the player understands the game, the position they play, as well as the  most important part – enjoying teeball.

In addition to playing teeball as discussed in an earlier post, Practice or No Practice, practicing with a teeball set is important even on non-practice days.  Read the story here. But sometimes a visual aide such as a book helps.

I wrote about the Berenstein Bears book on playing teeball.  Click here to reference the article.  Reading a story assists a child to learn some of the basic rules on teeball in addition to playing the game.  Some players can read about how teeball is played to reinforce their play on the field.

A different teeball game

My son and his team played another game today and they played very well.  They have played several games and have had a few practices since their first practice.  The team is getting much better at playing teeball. They are hitting the ball and throwing the ball, with some parental support of course.

Take care,
